2007 Fossa Exhibit
New animal exhibit and associated viewing areas. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting. Overflow Parking Study ABB prepared conceptual parking lot plans to provide additional staff and guest parking within the zoo lease boundary. ABB also provided concept plans in a few different locations along the north and south areas adjacent to Goodlette-Frank Road to determine additional parking capacity.
2008 Black Bear Hammock Exhibit
Renovation and expansion of the abandoned leopard exhibit into a larger area for two black bears. Clearing and site grading of new expansion area. Design pool overflow with pump station discharge. ABB prepared drawings, documents, City of Naples permit and Collier County SDP permitting.
Naples Zoo
at Caribbean Gardens
Since 2006, Agnoli, Barber & Brundage has provided civil engineering, utility, and water management design and permitting services for the Naples Zoo. Such services included the site design and local permitting for several new exhibits including the projects listed below. ABB served as the lead civil engineering consultant throughout the design, surveying, permitting, construction and certification portions of these projects.
2006 Leopard Rock Exhibit
Renovation and expansion of the abandoned hyena exhibit into the proposed leopard exhibit. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County Site Development Plan (SDP) permitting. Pedestrian Asphalt Path Conversion of the existing 3,800 linear foot crushed shell path into an asphalt surface for improved ADA, stroller access and overall improved guest experience. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting. Parking LotRenovation Relocation and addition of handicap parking spaces, addition of sidewalk from Goodlette-Frank Road and providing ADA access to the existing zoo entrance. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting.
2009 North Restroom Building
New restroom facilities at the north end of the zoo. ABB prepared drawings and Collier County SDP permitting. ABB also prepared City of Naples utility plans and designed the required potable water and sanitary sewer systems and obtained Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permitting. Ocelot and Tiger Viewing Areas New viewing structures and access to existing animal exhibits. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting.
2010 Sanitary Sewer Design for South Zoo
Provide sanitary sewer system design and abandonment of existing septic systems for the south zoo area. Design system to serve the zoo gift shop/entrance, administration trailers, reptile areas and maintenance barn. Provide gravity sewer and grinder station design with connection to City system. ABB prepared City of Naples utilities plans and documents and obtained FDEP permitting. Storage Sheds Propose four new storage sheds on the south end of the zoo lease boundary. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting. Giraffe Exhibit New giraffe animal enclosure and exhibit and removal of abandoned house at northeast corner of zoo lease boundary. ABB coordinated with agencies on renovation of land area and environmental permitting of adjacent mangrove areas. Also prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting.
2011 Fire Protection Main to South Zoo
Provide a fire protection system with hydrants along the south zoo lease line. Design fire main and hydrants along the south access road to serve the existing gift shop/entrance, administration trailers and exhibits. ABB prepared drawings and documents for City of Naples utilities permits and FDEP permitting. Utilities Expansion to North Zoo Provide sanitary sewer system design, potable water system design and a fire protection system to the facilities along the west and north sides of the zoo. Design systems to accommodate existing connections and abandonment of septic tanks and ground water services to animal exhibits. Provide utilities systems along north end to serve the new administration trailers and quarantine areas. Extend systems east to the existing restrooms and giraffe exhibit and provide utilities stubouts to future redevelopment areas and Kiwa Ranch. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting, City of Naples Utilities permitting, and FDEP drinking water and wastewater extensions. Also provided construction observation services and certifications.
2012 Zoo Administration/Operations Trailers and Quarantine Enclosures
New office trailers and associated parking and access roads and quarantine enclosures at north end of new zoo lease area. Abandonment of facilities at south end of zoo for County lease swap. ABB prepared drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting. ABB also prepared site clearing and grading plans. South Florida Water Management District design and permitting of drainage system.
2013 Quarantine Area Relocation
Prepare conceptual plans and coordinate with zoo staff and contractor on relocation and final design layouts for quarantine enclosures. Prepare site dimensional plans and determine final locations based on existing conditions, future maintenance buildings, perimeter roads, and anticipated structure setbacks. Prepare drawings and documents for Collier County SDP permitting.
